Thanksgiving 2009

Hang on to your hat!
This will be a whirl wind trip of our Thanksgiving weekend.

Megan and Elaine prepare our diner.

They cook while we snack on the goodies on the table.
Levi is looking at our favorite book about thanksgiving which tells about the Pilgrims journey to America.
I don't remember the name of it right now.

The boys went deer hunting that morning and then picked up Hope.

Scooby is waiting for one of us to be sympathetic and throw him something to eat.

The girls were doing MacGyver cooking since our stove is out.
So Megan made brown and serve rolls in the toaster oven.

Elaine made the turkey in the crock pot! It was delicious!

My family getting ready for prayer.

My family always smile when we pray.

Friday we went to Elaine's parents for Thanksgiving but I forgot the camera.
So just imagine food, fun and family here.

I remembered the camera Saturday when we went to my parents house.

Dad loads up a plate full along with Joel and Kye.

Most of the gang chowing down.

Each of us told what we were thankful for and lingered at the table swapping stories.

Brett's son, Kye, brought The Beatles Rock Band to play.

The gang rocking out.

Two part harmonies.

Levi, Hope and Joel getting down.

Even Elaine grabbed a mike.
Brett's family was kind enough to let us play a lot that night but they all still sang along.

While some rocked out others played Sequence.

That's cousin Sherri on the left. (See is in the rear-view mirror with us)

While playing the game I noticed Monroe over in the corner.

I took a moment to pose with this very photogenic deer.

Mom says we have the same smile.

This reminded me to ask to see our pet bird Budgie.

So like any normal family would we went in to the kitchen while Mom got Budgie out of the freezer.

Budgie died during the blizzard of 78 and has remained in the freezer ever since.

Good bird!

Mom got the salt and pepper shakers out for her biannual cooking event.
Seen before HERE

Brett's wife, Tracy, decided it was time to Rock and roll on out.

The cousins club posed for a picture before departing.

So did me and my little brothers.

A pose with the parents.

I hope you all had as nice a Thanksgiving as I did.

House Sitting in 1974

It was always a big deal to get on the roof with Dad.
This looks like this must be the first time we ever did it because the house still looks like it is under construction.

Aren't we cool?

I love Brett's army shirt and I would still wear the Yosemite Sam shirt if I had it and it fit.
I would pass on the yellow socks though.

Exploring 1973

Mom and her sons on an expedition in the forest.

Posing by some rocks elsewhere that same day.
A fun little jaunt through the park....or is it?

It has been a few years so I think it is time that we confess that we were really a secret spy family preparing for a mission.

There, our true identities are now revealed.

I mean look at us. The world should have known it all along because we wore the fashion and faces of the spy world.

So how did our friends not catch on?

Training. Hours and hours of training.

Here is a close up of the last group shot to demonstrate to you what I mean.
I take the lead, being the oldest, and put on my regular day face.

Masters of espionage!

Three Brothers

1973
Can you feel the brotherly love?

How about Motherly love?
Three boys wearing matching clothes, posing for a picture and smiling?
We do look young enough though that we wouldn't care if we did have matching clothes on.

I don't remember caring what I wore until middle school.

I also notice Monroe up on the wall behind us.
Look for his strange story in future posts.
No deer has ever had as much life as he has had.

Can you all help me out too?
How much should I charge when AT&T approaches me to use this pictures in their ad campaigns?

My Brother...

This my brother Darrell and my other brother Darrell.

The is the three amigos in 1977.

I am wearing a dog tag that I wanted really badly.
I looked everywhere for one.
I thought "Man a dog tag would be cool".
I could not find one.
We went to tons of art shows and there was always jewelry there but no dog tags.
Finally I found one but to get your name on it they engraved it and didn't stamp it.
It wasn't my first choice but I went for it.

••••••••••

As an adult I found a Army surplus store that sold dog tags and stamped your name in them.
I didn't get one but I got one for both my boys.

Summer 1976

Here we are again in our famous Double Bubble shirts.

Brett and I are on the bottom of the pyramid.
Chads head is sandwiched in between our heads.
The neighbor Kurt is on top.

Eat your hearts out. These were one of a kind shirts that our Mother made.

Tough Guys

What a bunch of goobers.
I am just plain goofy. Chad is doing his best Sears catalog pose.
And I think Brett is working a Teen Beat magazine cover look.

Hoosier in Hawaii?

Looks like we are on vacation with The Brady's in Hawaii but were in Hoosier Hawaii. (Florida)

Not sure where we are in Florida but I know we were glad to leave the blizzard we had that winter of 78.

I remember Dad pointing out the snow that was still on the ground as we left that spring.

He told us to make sure we told our Uncle Jack that snow was still on the ground in Indiana.

•••••••
Mom must have been scared of the Tiki's. Look how blurry the picture is.
•••••••
My kids make fun of our socks in the 70's. They say "Look how tall they are!".

They are coming back though because Megan has some just like the ones I am wearing in this picture.

Tree House

Brett in our tree house in Indianapolis.

You might not think that it looks like much from the outside but when we were inside it transformed into the Batcave, the Lone Ranger and Tonto's hide out or Tarzan's tree house.

Fun times with brothers.

A view from inside the tree house.

On The Trian

I think the is the train at Guntown mountain in Cave city Kentucky.

I wondered why Chad had that look on his face.

Then I figured maybe he thought Mom and Dad didn't want to be seen with us.

I mean the train is to crowded for them to sit right behind us.

Boys 1975

Us being cool in 1975.

Brett and I are ready for a football game to break out at any minute because not only do we have jerseys on but we are also wearing our cleats.

I am not sure what Chad is doing with is finger.

Fair

I don't know where this is but it does not look like a county fair but more a parking lot deal.

First thing I noticed, besides Chad, is the cages in the background.

Where have these gone?

I remember doing these once but Brett and I weren't big enough to get it to go all the way around.

I would like to see these at the fairs again.

Brett showing how safe these rides really are.

Apparently the carnies frown on leaning out of the ride while it is in motion.

This is cousin It's cousin from the Addams family.

Fun together.

Nice bubble.

Three men in a tub and I must have been going through my pirate phase.
