Fall 1973

Mom, Chad, Brett, Shari and me in a over look in Brown County State park, 1973.

Lets zoom in on the action.

Looks like Mom is entertaining Shari and I with something funny.

Brett is eating an ice cream cone. He could make a cone last forever.
I would gobble mine up in a minute and he would still be licking his. I think they bought him two cones at a time.
We are in a overlook in Brown County and the closet Dairy Queen is miles away and Brett still isn't to the cone yet.

Chad is slobbering down a cookie.

Brown County is rolling hills and is known for its beautiful fall foliage.
In 1973 you could climb one of these towers and look out at the fall colors for miles.
On a more recent visit it seemed that the park had let the trees up close grow up and obscure the view.
Literally you can't see the forest for the trees now.

What were we looking at that day in 1973?

Our station wagon.

70's Easter

A groovy Easter was had at the Butlers in 1977.

Looks like leisure suit Brian is finding some eggs with flower child Shari.

Shari and Chad searching for Easter eggs in the front yard.

Mom with her siblings and Mother.

Left to right on Back row. Ed, Myron, and Jerry.

Front row Mom, Grandma and Aunt Carol.

Same crowd but this time Mom's step brother Ronnie is on the left.

Easter at Aunt Carols

1973 and the family Easter celebration was held at my Aunt Carols house.

I always liked the medieval weapons that hung on my Aunts living room walls.
Swords and maces and you can see little knights on the mantle.

My cousin Steve, far right, and I played knights in this room many times.
He had a set of plastic knights like the little green army men most of us had.
The knight set also came with a working catapult!

We would set them up on the floor in opposing armies and launched boulders and rubber bands at each others men and battle it out to the last man standing.

•••••••••••••••

You see my Aunt Carol sitting just behind Steve on the far right.
Other Cousins I see are Rhonda, Doug, big Brett, Dave and Shari.

This is in the dinning room.

my Brother Brett is on the far left, Me, Steve, two unidentified cousins, Uncle Myron and Uncle Ray.
It looks like Uncle Ray is smoking the worlds largest cigarette in this slide.
I have not photo shopped this in anyway and man it looks huge.

Maybe they made them bigger then?

Christmas At Our house 1973

Christmas at our house with Uncle Jerry, Aunt Laura and Monroe the deer.
Monroe did become more than just Dads trophy,
he became a member of the family but I will go into that in a later post.

Me, Shari, and Brett digging our presents.

I also noticed some of Mom's candles in the bottom corner.
A Nativity and a snowman.

More pictures of the candles HERE.

In this one I noticed a Rip VanWinkle decorative bottle,
up on the mantel, that Dad received as a gift.

It did have whiskey in it but the seal went unbroken for years
until we had a get together.
Dad spotted the broken seal after our guests left, so he must have saw them drink it.
We asked "What did it taste like?".
Dad said "Nasty" but this didn't satisfy our curiosity and we didn't stop asking the question.
So Dad had us drink some vanilla extract and that stopped our questions.
Nasty was right.

His hat unscrewed.

I also noticed someone playing with Tarzan

I posted some better pics with him HERE.

It also got posted on the site MEGO Museum which is dedicated to these toys. HERE
