Sledding

Sledding

This is one of my favorite memories of sledding when I was a kid.

We have great memories from Uncle George's huge hill but this run was by our house.

Brett, Chad and I worked hard and made a great launching spot and ramps.
We didn't have any long or big hills so we would put jumps in and work the track until the runs were just perfect.

I know we broke some world records that week for distance jumped on a saucer sled.

Fun times.

Sledding 1974

sledding-1974

Sledding at Uncle George's house in 1974.

This was such a great hill for sledding and it holds so many great memories for me growing up.
We always wished that there was some way to automate getting us and our sleds back up this huge hill.
We never did find away to do it but this is what it would have looked like if I would have had my way back then.

Sledding At Uncle Georges

Brett was right when he commented on this post the other day.

After he said " I bet we had been sledding and were waiting for Dad to drag us back up the hill."

I went and looked at other slides around where I found that slide and sure enough we were sledding at Uncle Georges.

Brett is dressed the same and so am I, same day.

The slides had the same date on them too.

I do think we were to big to be pulled up the hill though.

Dad might have pulled the sled up for us but we look to big to carry.

We must have been flying though.

It was a big deal if you made it all the way to the creek though, a right of passage of sorts.

The creek is at the tree line.

Good job Brett.

Sledding Hill

Seems my last post on sledding started a lively debate between Mom and Dad.

Mom left this comment.

"OK - dad and I are not in agreement on where this sled run was. If I tell you where he says - you will agree with him just to make me wrong (you men gang up on me!) SO - you guys tell us where it is -- the most votes wins. Rule #1 - No personal contact to Dad on the hill issue. #2 - contest ends 1/30."

So this is pretty much limited to my brothers, a few friends and neighbors.

Here are a few pictures of the same place.

I know exactly where it is but I want to see what others say before I do.
