Pool Party

August 1976 and we are having a pool party.

Can't see a single face in the picture though.

Cousin Doug has his back to us.
I think Chad is sitting on the side to the left.
Mom is standing in the middle and that might might be my forehead I see in the back.

Mowing

George-mowing

Brett and Uncle George mowing in 1972.

They both seem to be really enjoying it.

So does Chad. Maybe he was told that he gets to ride the next round.

Notice the Cat?

Cousin Trina was sunbathing or maybe this was when they had a pool out back?

Someone else is hiding in the edge of the frame.

Looking at the picture I can hear my Uncle George's laugh.

Happy Birthday Brett

Candles

Happy birthday Brett.

I noticed that Brett is wearing a Calico Frog Shirt.
I wonder what the key is for that is under the cake?

Brett's first birthday.
That is cousin Rhonda standing next to Brett.

I see cousin Danny, Rhonda and the back of my head in this one.

Cousin Karen is in this one but I can't name the boy standing beside her.

Camp Grandkid 2010

Friday night Mom and Dad hosted a camp out for the grand-kids.
I initially said that the boys and I would camp out too but it turned out that Friday was one of the hottest days of the year.
So sleeping in a tent did not sound to fun to me.
We just stayed until after midnight and then went home.

The front yard that was nothing but grass when I was growing up was the forest for the camp out Friday night.

Here are the other cast of characters.

This was to be the girls tent. Was is the word for it.

Very nice camp grounds.

We did some fishing and the mosquitoes did most of the biting.

Though a few people caught some fish.

Dad took us to his peach tree and we ate some peaches and took a bag full home.

We sang some songs with Paige doing the leading.

It was nice to sit around an open fire while the state was under a heat advisory.
That is how we roll!

I heard that this was the way the night ended.
Brett slept in a tent next to the fire while everyone else went inside.

He should try deodorant sometime.

Easter

Easter at Grandma Whites was always a good time.
Good food, Grandma Whites eclairs anyone?, and cousins always made it fun.

I love the picture at the top.
It reminds me of cartoon gangs that were on Television at the time.
When you were watching stuff like, Scooby Doo Where are you?, The Funky Phantom and The Hair Bear Bunch it is bound to come out in your clothing style.

See what I mean?

I am not sure what Uncle Ed was watching that influenced his green suit choice but it was probably ANYTHING on prime time television at the time.

It must have been a really nice weather that Easter.

We played football that day. What a great time. I remember bits and pieces of that day in Grandma's yard.
Specifically that I kept stepping in dog doo.
I can always find it. It is a gift I have.

Cousin Sondra is looking like she is ready for the Bicentennial with her outfit.

Hey look her twin Rhonda has on a matching shirt! Crazy how that happens.

More pictures of that day can be found HERE.

Have a nice Easter.

If your out there cousins, from both sides of the family, say hey in the comments.

Just a Swinging

1975, Beechgrove Park, Welton family reunion.

I see that my brothers and I all have matching shirts on.

I also see my cousin Steve and his sisters, Sondra and Rhonda.

There is some other kid that I don't recognize on there too.

Why aren't these swings on playgrounds anymore?

You used your legs and your arms with this swing. A full body work out and team work.

Hold on tight and run a fast as you could. When you got it going fast enough (Or you wanted to make the older cousins do all the work) you picked up your feet and swung like Batman going from building to building.

In 75 we played. We played outside and we were fit kids.
I can remember only one or two kids that couldn't climb up a rope in gym class back then.
I wonder how many kids can't or have never tried to climb a rope now?

I wonder if I can now?
