Charlie Chaplin

Here I am doing my Charlie Chaplin impersonation.

Its easy to do.

All you need is a black derby hat and masking tape under your nose and you got it.

Smile and Squint

Smile and squint for the camera.

This is Brett trying not to fry his retinas.

Dad's movie camera light is being used as a flash and it was bright enough.

I think when Brett got up his outline was etched into the couch.

El Salvador

Mom is in El Salvador this week on a mission trip.

Please pray for her while she away from home.

One of the other ladies on this trip has a daily journal you can read to see what they are doing each day.

You can get to the journal by clicking right here.

Skiing

When I first saw these slides I thought it was pictures of us skiing in Nashville but it is not.

These ski's are the famous K-tel Fun skis!

We had a blast on these and we had no broken bones.

I think this is Mom and Chad.

Sea of Dandelions

When we mowed it looked like a yard of nice green grass. . . . . for about a day.

Rest Area

The old rest area out by the mailbox.

That is Chad sitting on the pot with the dog 2D.

2D was named after two famous people.

R2D2 (we used R2's spelling obviously) and Tootie from the "Facts of Life" T.V. show.

I wonder what happened to 2D? Car, tractor or did 2D run away? I just don't remember.

There are other picture of Brett and I at this rest area but I don't think I should put them up right now . . . . or ever.

Mamoth Cave

It must not have been a busy day at the cave because I see no other people.

I bet you can't get a shot like this today without other people being in the picture.

Elaine and I stopped at the cave with the kids this fall and it was booked solid with people from everywhere around the world.

It seems that the days of just showing up and walking right down to the cave are gone.

so will I call and make reservations next time?

Probably not.

Art Show

Here is Mom at another art fair.

My guess is this is at the Penrod art festival. If it is it seems to me something happened and we didn't go back. What was the deal mother?

Is this your friend Vivian with you?

In the Kitchen

Looks like we are in the kitchen making cookies or playing with Mom's homemade playdough.

It is kinda weird seeing a back wall in the kitchen though.

How long did it last as a wall before Dad tore it out and it ended up now to be the kitchen?

The Artist 2

Here is Mom at an art fair.

It was always fun to go to the art fairs and meet different people and see different styles of art.

We would always compare and could leave the show saying Mom's paintings were the best.

Others thought so too because at the next show we would see where artists had "borrowed" our Mothers style or subject matter.

I guess that just proves the old adage was true.

Imitation is the best form of flattery.

Race Car Driver

Here we see Brett racing at the Grand Prix Raceway ride at Disney world.

I also noticed Chad waiting in line.

Lochness?

On the post "By A Lake"

Brett said...

"I searched and searched for the Lochness Monster, but I didn't find it."

I puzzled over what my brother meant when he said this then I found it.

Digging through Dad's slides I found a few more pictures taken that same day by the lake.

Which turned out not to be a lake but an inlet by the ocean.

This must have been one of our many trips that we have made to Florida.

This first picture is no Lochness monster but it is kinda scary.

Next we have a snapshot of me on my first diving trip.
Then I hit pay dirt.

While I was diving in the ocean below Dad, Mom, Brett and Chad were fishing up on the boat above.

Dad had caught a beaut and landed it when Mom snapped this picture.

So that is why Brett was looking for the monster in the lake photo.

Good memory Brett.

Batman

Some things never change.

Above is a picture of a young me, and a young Dad, but I am dressed up as Batman.

This was during the Adam West, Batman t.v. show craze in the 1960's.

Mom says that I said Mommy, Daddy, and Batman for my first words.

For those of you who know me well know that I still collect anything Batman.

I am not the only geek out there who does this though.

My family and I went to a super hero museum (a private collection) over Christmas break and the museum owner spent more on Batman and Superman than I will ever make in my life.

Look at all the Batman stuff.Standing next to Burt Ward's costume (aka robin) with my kids.

But I did get mentioned and my work desk shown on a prominent Bat-Blog.

Here is a link to it. Link

This is cool. It is like Brett making Field and Stream magazine or Tracy's photo being boldly shown on Barry Manilow's fansite.

Sadly for my wife, this will only encourage me to collect more Batstuff.

Tell me that Chad is not the first one you look at in this picture.

Niki

I don't have any pictures of Niki's birth but I do think this is the first time we met with her.

This is in Grandma Welton's front room at her house on Lexington Ave.

I remember Niki saying her birth date and it sounded real cute when she said "February 9th!".

I hear her say it in that tiny voice still today.

Happy belated birthday Niki.

Volleyball

Looks like we are playing volleyball somewhere in 1978. Does anybody know where?

It also looks like we were playing shirts and skins.

Good thing I was on skins and not Mom!

Just Ducky

Sorry I was buried all day long yesterday and had no time to post anything but this picture should make up for it.

You can almost hear him gurgle can't you?

Camera Test

Without Flash
Here we have two almost identical slides.

I have determined that Dad must have been doing a camera test.

The top slide is without Flash and the bottom one is with Flash.

I am not sure which one is better because I am still squinting my eyes and Brett has his closed.

We look pretty groovy in either one though.

With Flash

Hardy Har Har!

You are all just too funny.

For your information I am always busy at work.

I had to pull one of my fellow employees off their job to snap this picture of me at my desk.

That was before they sent me outside to do some maintenance on the roof.

Last night I had to referee a really rough game of basketball.

I wake up this morning to look at our blog and I see all your comments.

I get no respect. I treat you all with kindness and love.

All this reminds me of being back at school and how I was treated poorly then as this class picture shows.

Only my dear wife stood beside me once again.

You are right dear. "Bummer!"

Troubles

I can't get any pictures to load. Technical stuff I guess.

Sorry for the disappointment.

I promise to make fun of my family tomorrow.
